Looking for top needs for entry-level computer jobs

Posted By Ashish

As part of my project to provide vocational computer training based on industry needs, I started searching for top entry-level computer-based job needs this week. Right now, Dushyant Maheshwary, a 2nd yr computer engineering student from Mumbai, is helping me search for these jobs on employment sites (such as naukri.com etc). So far, his search reveals that most of the jobs are for Administrative Assistant posts requiring basic MS Office skills. Communication skills in English are a requirement for some of this positions. Since English-speaking skills are generally lacking in Bagar, this might put these jobs out of reach for the youth here.

I didn’t manage to contact as many sources for computer jobs as I had targetted this week. As I start getting more organized with this search, I hope to find myself becoming more effective. From the ones I did (Indicorps colleagues and personal contacts), I mostly managed to get contacts for other sources. I do have some good leads in HR departments of companies to chase down this week.

I have attached the list of sources I intend to target . I would love to get feedback and ideas on what are industries/organizations I should be looking to target. I am trying to filter my search down to jobs in Rajasthan and Haryana.

GDL Technology is also getting a new intern next week – Anjuli Kannan from Harvard University. She will be here from July 1st to August 22nd. She’ll be assisting with the curriculum development for the vocational training. I’ll be developing an orientation and detailed weekly goals for her internship this week. I’ll let her introduce herself and provide updates on her progress through this blog.
