It seems like just yesterday when we first arrived in Bagarand Lakshmi arrived a few hours later because she had to retrieve one of her bags that we had left on the train. Anyway, now Lakshmi’s gone; we’ve lost our fearless leader! But the work must go on, in spite of the fact that the person who personified NGO is not here. Luckily for us, we have all the wonderful, inspiring signs and posters she made to liven up the place!
So this past week, I started some lesson plans but did not get through as many as I would have liked. I’ve decided that I cannot make the module myself, so I am on a mission to find someone who can help me. Other news, Digantar in Jaipur has offered to send someone from their NGO to get trained in using the module. That person would implement the training in Bagar and then would be able to take it back to use in Digantar. Their offer opened me to a new world of possibilities in finding trainers, so that was fruitful. Only thing is that Digantar wants a curriculum for primary level teachers. After thinking about it and discussing it with quite a few people, I’ve decided that starting with primary teachers may not be a bad idea. I have talked to about half the target schools, and everyone has expressed interest. I plan to have a formal, fairly professional meeting for all principals and teachers. I want it to be formal/professional because I want them to understand that I mean business. Other news, I have made an appointment to meet with the magazine department of the Rajasthan Patrika.
So things are moving. Definitely not at the pace I would want it to. I think a lot of the back-up this week was because of the training module. Hopefully I’ll have someone to help me in the next few days. .
