All set to start the class
Posted By Ashish
My major goal for the week is to recruit students to start the class next week (September 17).
I was able to get one student to pay, and get a verbal yes from 12 students (1 full batch) for the class. There are in fact quite a few people interested in taking the class. However, I want to focus the first two batches of classes only on students that are actively seeking or will be seeking employment in the coming year (e.g. final year college students). I feel my marketing efforts could have been stronger.
Another major effort was to recruit a teacher. A state-wide advertisement in the leading newspaper only resulted in limited success – most of the teachers were too ‘overqualified’ for the job, and thus outside my budget. Part of the reason was that I might have overstated my qualification requirements for the teacher in the ad. I interviewed three local teachers interested in teaching part-time, but they were not of the standards required. Right now, my option is to either find a way to increase my pay-range to hire a teacher, or to re-start the search with lowered requirements.
Either way, its exciting times ahead, with the class getting underway next week! The goal would be to successfully start the class, and ramp it up to two full batches. I’ll also be looking to continue the search for a teacher. I need to review and translate more of the lesson plans. New leads with a couple of NGOs running similar classes, as well the possibility of acquiring GE Life Skills curriculum for personality development should add significantly to the process.
I would like any suggestion on other possible partnerships for personality development curriculum in particular.
