Bagar Drinking Water Initiative (sarvajal)

The BDWI was successfully incubated and launched as Piramal Water Private Ltd supplying the’sarvajal’ brand of clean and cheap drinking water (treated by the reverse osmosis process). In addition to company managed outlets in Bagar and Jhunjhunu, there are franchises in various locations in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Bagar Employment Institute (BEI)

Seeking to equip Bagar youth for the competitive urban and semi-urban job market BEI delivers vocational training courses that include or have included English, Computer, Medical Representative and Retail training.

Bagar Employment Exchange (BEX)

An attempt to connect the supply and demand sides of the job market, BEX holds details of job-seekers and passes the appropriate names (based on skill requirements) to companies seeking to hire in this region. BEX is undergoing development and is expecting to launch as a web-based service soon.

Source For Change – Rural BPO

Currently undergoing incubation this all-women BPO centre is developing a business model that is both profitable and socially beneficial.

Community development

Maintaining the strong community connectivity associated with GDL this programme seeks to work with community groups to identify and tackle various issues, including employment information; adolescent education and women’s empowerment.

Entrepreneurship development

This brand-new project is an initiative to reduce youth unemployment and dependency by encouraging innovation as a means to a livelihood amongst the younger population of Bagar and surrounding regions. As an initial step GDL will be running a course to teach basic business values, instil life skills and develop confidence such that youth feel empowered to begin their own business.
